چکیده

Suimmary. Nucleotide compositions of soluble (sRNA), whole-cell, and in one instance particulate and nonparticulate, RNA of embryos, cotyledons (dark and lightgrown), leaves, stems, ancd roots of Gossypium hirsuttum were compared. Evidence of substantial differences in the overall compositions of the RNAs was not obtained. However, a tendency for some plant parts to differ, particularly in sRNA composition, and that of the cotyledons (including particulate and nonparticulate RNA) to change durinlg the formation of chlorophyll, was indicated by small but statistically significant shifts in certain nucleotide components.

Comparison of oil and fatty acid composition of seed, shoot and in-vitro regenerated organs of cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L. var. Sahel)

Cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) is a source of edible oil and fatty acids (FAs). In this study, embryos’ explants were cultured in MS medium with different concentration of  plant growth regulators (phytohormones) include BA, IAA, IBA, 2, 4- D and NAA, to finding the relationship of hormone and organogenesis with oil and FAs content. Oil was extracted with chloroform and methanol. FAs o...

A fasciclin-like arabinogalactan protein, GhFLA1, is involved in fiber initiation and elongation of cotton.

Arabinogalactan proteins (AGPs) are involved in many aspects of plant development. In this study, biochemical and genetic approaches demonstrated that AGPs are abundant in developing fibers and may be involved in fiber initiation and elongation. To further investigate the role of AGPs during fiber development, a fasciclin-like arabinogalactan protein gene (GhFLA1) was identified in cotton (Goss...

بررسی طرح و رنگ در بافته های پنبه ای هند و ایران (با تأکید بر داری و زیلوهای دو تا سه رنگ)

The cotton hand-woven products of Iran and India are in the category of flat and without knot wovens; Both are suitable for warm climate and some of them have same colour, pattern and composition. These cotton wovens reveal the cultural, psychical and aesthetics distinective characteristic and even climate conditions of weavers. In this study using the library and field research the hypothesi...

Structural Investigations of Various Cotton Fibers and Cotton Celluloses

Macroand crystalline structure, as well as chemical composition of fibers related to various types and sorts of Israeli cottons, both white and naturally colored, were investigated. The differences in structural parameters and chemical compositions of the cotton fibers were evaluated. Samples of cotton of the “Pima”-type had long, thin and strong fibers with highly ordered supermolecular struct...

Cotton Leaf Curl Multan Virus-Derived Viral Small RNAs Can Target Cotton Genes to Promote Viral Infection

RNA silencing is a conserved mechanism in plants that targets viruses. Viral small RNAs (vsiRNAs) can be generated from viral double-stranded RNA replicative intermediates within the infected host, or from host RNA-dependent RNA polymerases activity on viral templates. The abundance and profile of vsiRNAs in viral infections have been reported previously. However, the involvement of vsiRNAs dur...
